Cable in 2nd bedroom...

Guys,
I'm installing a tv in our guest room. I already have an outlet in there (it was installed when our home was built), but it's not receiving a signal. I took off the plate to confirm that there is actually a cable coming in, and there is.. Is there something else that I need to do, or that I can do? I should'nt have to have the cable company come out, right?

you need to find the other end of that cable

look in the attci or crawl space

chances are it will need to hooked into the system

To add to mango's post:

It might be disconnected in the main cable junction box on the side of the house as well. Can you observe through the receptacle if the cable goes up the wall, or down? If it goes up, look in the attic like mango said, if down, look in the basement.
