Unhappy Altec Lansing (ADA745) Subwoofer Keeps Blowing Fuse when Powering On

We have Altec Lansing A215 Quad Spaeakers and Subwoofer(ADA745) with our Dell 8250 Dell Dimension Desktop Computer. The problem is that after a bad rain and lightning storm, the power went out in our home and when it came back on the subwoofer fuse would not operate. We saw that the fuse was blown so we bought some more fuses. We used 6 fuses. Everytime we would put one in and turn the power on, you could hear the fuse blowing. Please help.

Sounds like the amplifier cct is fried.

If you were lucky enough to have it plugged in to a surge protector that has an insurance policy on damage I would be curious to see if it is possible to collect.

Use Slow-Blow Fuse for this subwoofer, NOT Fast-Acting

Hello, I just had the same exact problem with the same exact speakers/subwoofer set. I have the answer: while you probably used correctly amp'd 1 Amp, 250V fuses, you probably used 'Fast-Acting' instead of 'Slow-Blow' type fuses. I just returned the 'Fast-Acting' type to Radio Shack, and came home with the Slow-Blow type and YEAAAA my fuse didn't burn out and I am rockin' to Led Zeppelin!!!

Bottom line: here is the correct fuse: 1 Amp, 250V 'Slow-Blow'. Both types are in the same drawer at Radio Shack, so be careful to by the Slow-Blow type for your speaker system to work.
