Question help with hookup

have a sylvania vcr/dvd combo. How do I hookup?
I have it hooked up and the vcr plays and dvd plays but when I make a timer recording the display will jump from vcr to dvd and will not record

Have I done something wrong? The clock is set correctly

I have the connectors in the dvd/vcr audio on the combo
and the connectors in output video on the tv

I also have a separate dvd recorder and do not know what to do with it???????????????????????????

Thank You grannyagogo

Is the Sylvania combo a dvd recorder. Most I've seen are vcr's and dvd players. If that's the case, I'd use the dvd recorder, and play regular dvd's on the combo.

Are you trying to record on the cable or tv input of the vcr? Most won't record from within itself (vcr to dvd or dvd to vcr).

dvd/vcr combo

Thank you for a reply. Here is my delema. With my old vcr.
I could put in a vhs tape, set the timer for the program that I want to record and that is what is did.

With the combo- I set the timer for the program OK
When the program starts the indicator light switches from
the vhs to the dvd. Maybe I hooked it up wrong

I have the jacks(yellow, white, red)on the unit going into
dvd/vcr audio

On the tv I have the other end of that jack going into
output video. If you could just tell me where to put the
jacks?????????????

Thank You

the yellow goes from video out on the combo to the video in on the tv. The red & white from audio out to audio in.

You should have similar inputs from your cable box if you're using one.

You're very welcome. I hope that works for you.

Look through all the forum subjects. Maybe you can share some of your own knowledge in here somewhere.
