Cool Curtis Mathes TV very slow to power up.

We own a Curtis Mathes Console television (TV only) from 1986. It is a beautiful piece of furniture, have never had a problem with it until now and we would like to try to keep it. Recently we experienced our first problem - when you turn it on the Channel light comes on dimmly, almost like it is at half power. The time interval before the inital attempt try and the television actually coming on varies from 10 minutes to as long as 6 hrs. (good thing we have another TV). It reminds me of the televisions when I was a kid - you had to wait for some tvs to "warm up." Any thoughts on what part I might need to replace? I also have a friend trying to locate schematics for this television.

It sounds like a power supply, but with a set this old, it could be anything else.

Locating parts for this dinosaur will probably be hard to come by as well.

I usually tell people to heave these things to the curb, but I do understand they have some sort of sentimental value, if so, you could remove the actual TV and use the shell as a cabinet of sorts.
