Need an AM antenna for stereo reciever

I need some kind of antenna for my stereo reciever so that I can pick up AM. A friend suggest just a long piece of wire but I tried that and it didn't work. This is in my home and I am not looking for some expensive thing. I have seen FM / UHF antenna's but not AM antennas. Granted I have not looked much yet but thought I would get some input. Thanks

You could try a cheap AM loop antenna, from an electronics store or ebay. In general, I 've always heard you are better off buying a radio specifically designed for AM reception ($40 and up) rather than trying to get a standard receiver to work well.

good luck

Try the Terk Am Advantage. I have one, and it works. Shop around and you might get it cheaper.

Hmm. Out of stock, and $50 for a wire loop and a variable capacitor.
