Opinions please
I'm about to buy a new 42" LCD TV and I am down to two possibles. Although a lot will come down to individual preferences, I thought I'd ask -
Sharp Aquos or Sony Bravia?

To me that's a toss-up, which means it will come down to personal prefs. Which picture do you like better? Which meets your needs for number and type of inputs and outputs? If you're using internal speakers, which one sounds better?
If you can, do an A/B comparison in the store and make sure you reset both to the "default" picture settings. Some retailers adjust the models they're pushing so the picture looks better.

My Philips LCD has a setting "Retailer". If I choose this, it will have the same color settings that they use in stores, BUT, it does not look as good at home because of the lighting differences.

Personally, I'd get the Sony. Have a 50 and a 30inch.
But here's something to also try:
Have the retailer show you some channels in SD, since not are all HD yet.
Some HDTVs display SD very poorly.
Then you too will choose the Sony!!!
