Projection TV Wont turn on

I have a 40i projection tv purchased thru Dish Network, Model is HD40-300. it appears to be basically an RCA style Projection screen
TV started to not power up at times and power button would blink green once long followed by 9 quick green blinks. I was leaving it on constantly and just switching screen to an aux input channel to black screen at night. But now it has powered down on its own.
I was told it is possibly the flyback transformer at the base of my issue. And are the green blinks some type of trouble code? If so does anyone have any knowledge on this issue?? thanks

First it comes with a year warranty on parts and labor,so how old is it?
What kind of DIY skills do you have if you were wanting to try to fix it yourself?

It was purchased in 2006, I have circuit board assembly experience so yes I am hoping to DIY.

Ok, I don't have any diagrams on these or seen the inside of one.
First thing to check would be the horizontal output transistor to see if it is shorted. If it is repace it.If it's not use a meter and plug the set in and see if there is power going to that transistor, usually 130v to 150v DC.
Post back and let me know what you find.

Here is a picture of the unit. It it an ITC222 Chassis HD40-300..
http://www.dowelectronics.com/Produc...tor_011504.pdf

It is basically an RCA D40W20 as far as I can tell. Dish contracted with ECHO communications and just put they're name on it.

I am not familiar with TV components what and where do I find the "HOT"??
I know its a horizontal trans or something but thats about it.

Are the nine green blinks a trouble code??
At first when the power button was pushed it would blink 3 times.
NOW nothing, but if I HOLD power button in it blinks nine times. any ideas???

There is going to be a transformer with a large red wire coming out of the top of it.That is the horizontal output transformer. The HOT will be on a heat sink close to it.It will have 3 legs. The center leg will be connected directly to pin 1,2,or3 of the transformer. That is the leg of the transistor you want to check to see if it is shorted to ground. The other 2 legs will check shorted to ground normally.

I found the component with the large red wire but it is mounted by 12 pins in a semi-circle. Am I missing something???

Thats the horizontal output transformer for sure. Now look for a large transistor mounted on a heat sink(piece of metal) close to the transformer. The middle leg of the transistor will go directly to one leg of the transformer.
