Reducing light on display panel

Just bought a new mini componenet system for my bedroom, but the display light is so bright (neon blue) that it lights up the entire room. Kinda hard to fall asleep with so much bright light. Is there any way I can reduce this display light other than covering it with a bandana which I'm doing right now?
Thanks for any help.

On most of these you can't dimm the display. You could cover it with a piece of colored plexiglass, like putting sunglasses on it.

Thanks, I was thinking along those lines somewhat, but I was thinking of some tint film like what is used for vehicle windows.

Be aware of the placement of anything that will lower the light level. It will also lower the ability of the IR (remote) receiver to "see" the infrared light pulses from the remote. Try to keep the filter away from the IR receiver.
