Akai tv
Hello; Never knew this place was around
Anyway my son ran his finger across the screen of the tv and then touched the volume button and now the volume is stuck on 100 and the remote control dont work either.I had to snip the speaker wires and hook to my stereo. It's an Akai model#ct3226 Is this an easy fix?It works great and hate to toss it. Thanks
Tony

Did you try unplugging it for an hour before cutting the wires?
I'm sure if you do a search of this site using "Akai," you will get ALOT of issues with it.

are you ready for some adventure? :)
I came to understand that this model stores the user preferences (like volume level, brightness etc.) in an EEPROM! that means turning-off the power has no impact!!
Well, looking at what caused the problem from your post, it could be as simple as the volume button is just jammed; did you try pressing it again a few times? Because I don't think your son's action could have messed-up the electronics inside, such as the processor or the control circuits (toppling a cup of coffee on it could have, on the other hand!
).
But, if you don't want to toss the tv (may be you like its picture-quality or some of its functions) then I could have given an alternate solution that bypasses its audio circuit (by substituting with an external amplifier), exactly as what are doing now! there no other simpler way, imho
