frozen speaker

i have a pair of rockustics speakers and one of the speakers is frozen ( must have gotten some water vapor inside since m agnet is all rusted). It is an 8" speaker. although it is covered under warranty, i thought it would be cheaper to just buy a new speaker and install it myself. my question is:

is there a huge difference between 8" speakers? can i use any speaker off of craigslist?

thanks

To answer your specific questions:
Yes, there is a difference between speakers. They are chosen to work within a specific environment.
No, you can't buy just any speaker on craigslist. There are specs that have to be matched.

The good news is ... If it's under warranty it should be a free repair. They will probably send you a new 8" speaker that you'll have to install.

thanks...in order to get it repaired, i need to pay shipping both ways plus a $20 fee. total about $50 and a 4 week turn around, i thought there would be a cheaper/faster alternative.
thanks

After looking at the prices for those speakers,$50 seems like a reasonable price.
