Audio/video switch

I have a new TV receiver with only one A/V output. I need to run this one output to 2 devises. I found an A/V switch online. It is a 3 input A/V switch with one output. Can I just reverse the input output? For example can I connect the receiver output to the A/V switch input and the 2 devices to the inputs? Basically reverse the input output function of the switch. If not any idea where I can get a switch. Thank you.

If it's a passive switch you can do it. If it's active (requiring power) it may not pass the signal in the opposite direction.

The audio can simply be split with a couple of Y-cords. Video requires matched impedance and voltage, so you can't split video.

Instead, consider a video DA, or Distribution Amplifier. A 1x2 DA like this one will allow both devices to see the output of the AV receiver simultaneously.

I personally prefer gefen or xantech video distribution parts myself, but whatever gets the job done!
