TV picture goes blank after a few seconds, then only audio

Westinghouse 32 inch LCD (model 32H240S)

When turning on the TV, the picture appears briefly and then goes to a blank screen. You can still hear audio. The picture remains blank.

Upon googling this, I've seen some people say that replacing the power supply will fix the problem.

Anyone heard of this issue or have any suggestions?

Yes, bad caps in the power supply normaly cause this problem with these sets.

Anybody know where you can buy just the power supply for a tv? Do you have to go back to the manufacturer? A specialty electronics store?

And are you talking about the actual power cable or the hardware inside the tv that the cable plugs into?

Similar Problem

Hi,

I have the same television and a similar problem:

If I turn on the TV it shows the Westinghouse Logo, after 2 seconds it turns black. I had similar problems before, but if I let the TV cool down it seemed to recover.

I opened the TV, but I couldn't find any marks or burnt areas on any of the boards. Also the capacitors seem to be alright.

If I disconnect the backlight inverter form the power supply, but leave the main board connected, I can turn the TV on and it stays on. However, I just get an audio signal. If I connect all, but one cable to the backlight inverter, I can operate the TV for a couple of seconds with reduced backlight. Then, the backlight turns off, and I can hear only the sound. Yet an improvement to the fully connected backlight converter.

Now my question: Is the backlight converter broken or the power supply?

Thanks!

Andreas
