Acer tv shutting off

It just started shutting off by itself, then wont turn on. It'll turn back on once I unplug, then plug it back in. It's a good distance from the wall, free of dust, and doesn't feel hot when turning off. Any ideas? or is it time to scrap it

It's about 5 years old, one of the earliest models. It's a 37" 1080P set. I'm not sure of the model number. It was THE deal on a 1080P set back in the day. It's frusterating because I don't want to scrap it as it works fine when it's on. It can stay on for around 20 minutes at a time.

It's the age where the caps are most likely going bad in the power supply.

Is there any way to open it up and look at them or replace them yourself?

Just take the set apart and look for any caps that look distorted or may be leaking.
