out door speakers

I'm installing speakers around my in the ground pool. I want to run speaker wire from the house. I plan on using 1/2" PVC pipe, how deep do I have to trench the conduit? What size wire would be best (about 100' total)?

Normally when running PVC for electric you would keep it at 18." That would be my recommendation in this application.

I would also use either #16 or #14 speaker wire. Probably lean towards #14.

Conduit carrying Class 2 wiring does not have any depth requirements, but the 18" required for standard electrical is a safe bet simply to avoid hitting it in the future if you need to run a tiller or something over the area. Assuming you will be using "Rock" speakers and a 100w receiver, you should be ok with 14ga wire over that distance. If you want to leave room for more power later on, use 12ga.
