Sony AV-1070 Display Problems

Well first, hello everybody. I am new to the forums and plan on becoming a regular. I hope to be helped as well as to assist anybody who has problems.

Now the topic of interest, I have come into possession of a Sony AV-1070 which is equipped with surround sound and an equalizer which I am really enjoying. But after the receiver runs for a while the display will dim then light back up and do this continuously. It doesn't affect the performance at all but I can't help but get annoyed while watching a movie and it keeps on dimming and lighting back up.

Could this just be a wiring issue reacting to the heat of the receiver? I've taken it apart once just to dust off the components, but I did take caution when doing so.

Thank you so much for your help.

Welcome to the forums.

Are you talking about the vacuum display tube.....the one with the numbers ?

Those receivers had several problems that affected the display. They had ground solder issues.

Look for R975. It may be burned. It'll need to be replaced with a 220 ohm at least 1/2w resistor. The part will be found under the main board.
