A/V Sync Delay - Samsung Sound Bar

A friend of mine bought a Samsung HW-F355 sound bar for Christmas and has it connected to the optical out of his 42" Samsung LCD TV. Although it sounds decent, it has a significant amount of A/V sync delay. The sound bar has a delay adjustment for 0 to 300 ms, but the problem is the audio is already delayed by 30 to 40 ms with the sound bar delay set to 0 ms. Do you think connecting the sound bar to the optical out on the cable box instead of the TV would help? If not, WTH?

Does the TV have an audio delay setting? If not it can't hurt to try the cable box output. Also try the analog audio input.
