Hitachi 22LD3560U TV Red standby LED flashes blue around 2-30am and wakes us.

The red standby LED on our Hitachi 22LD3560U TV starts flashing bright blue in the middle of the night and it can be anything from a dozen or so up to more than 60 flashes

Is there something we can set to stop this happening as it is so bright it lights up the bedroom and wakes us. Before anyone suggests the obvious answer of unplugging the TV, that defeats the object of having a TV high on the bedroom wall that can be controlled by the remote handset

How about a little piece of black electrical tape over the offending LED?

I had thought of that as well but I guess it is the curious in me that wants to find out what is causing it and how it can be turned off which I am assuming it can

I tried looking for the service manual. It's not listed in North America.
Comes close to model numbers in Europe/ UK.

Is that the correct model number ?

Sorry - I hadn't realised I was onto a US based forum. It is indeed a UK TV but I wouldn't have thought that, apart from the transformer and rectifier circuits to handle the 110v : 60hz versus 240v : 50hz, that the inner workings would be any different.

In addition to the Model No. 22LD3560U, The label on the back has bar codes showing:

10069634 T102 100164 - 6679941 100164

10069634 1102

Serial No. V11B04666

It sounds like you may have a error code blinking. Watch it and see if it occurs in a recurring pattern. There is probably a pause between codes. So, you may see it blink a number of times and then pause before repeating continuously. Post what your blinking pattern is and maybe someone can help, or you can search the web to find the blink code for your model TV.

Is your TV working properly? Any picture issues or problems?

The TV works fine.

Is there a way of making it display error codes on demand rather than rely on being woken then thrashing about in a bleary eyed state knowing that I will have missed a number of flashes that had occurred to wake me up.

When does the light blink? Does it do it continuously, only when powered off, or randomly throughout the night? If it's only happening randomly at night I wonder if you are have very brief power fluctuations or outages. Not enough to cause digital clocks to blink but enough to make the TV think it's had a power supply problem.

Just throwing it out there, but if the TV is doing this every night at around the same time I might suspect a power glitch -- something the electric company is doing. It could be happening too fast for clocks in the house to reset, but long enough to cause the TV's error circuit to activate.

Could the TV be downloading program schedules and descriptions to display on the screen if/when you push the Info button on the remote? Now why it should be flashing a blue light is a mystery to me.

Hi Everyone
I live in the UK and i just bought a Hitachi 22HXJ06U Combination LED TV/DVD
I had a problem with the standby light flashing red and blue at 3am in the morning and it was waking me up as I have installed this TV on a wall bracket in my bedroom. I contacted the Argos helpline which is the store I purchased it from and the engineer assured me that it is a software update that will happen periodically between the hours of 2am to 5am every now and the until the updates are completed. There is a way you can turn the software updates off in one of the menu's if it's driving you nuts but he advised me not to do this until the tv is a few months old as some of the updates are necessary,
Hope this help
