Doing My "Do Diligence" Research

Good Day All,

I am researching apple compatible stereo receivers and it has come down to the Pioneer VSX-822-K.
VSX-822-K - 5.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver | Pioneer Electronics USA

My problem is I don't have a good understanding of Ethernet. Can I connect wireless or do I need to run a cable?

With AirPlay, stream music from iTunes to the VSX-822-K and play it through your home theater system without docks or cables. Simply connect the receiver to your home network via Ethernet, and it instantly becomes the hub for playback of your iTunes music from your connected Apple device or networked computer.

Down the road I would like to connect it to the Apple Time Capsule external storage. This is where I will keep my music, etc

Thanks in advance.

In looking at the specs. you are required to run a network connection to the receiver.

Ok Thanks.

Do you have a suggestion on the cable type?

CAT-5E would be fine. You could also use CAT-6 for future higher speed applications.
