Thumbs up

Good Morning, Blackie:

In the old days, turning a TV on was just a simple matter of flipping a switch. Simple. Effective. Worked for years.

These days, the sets have sophisticated remote control circuits and you hears words like "diode matrix", "biasing transistor", and such. Switches are all electronic and it would be pure agony to try to explain what a TV set has to go through to just turn itself on. What I perceive has happened is that you have a shorted thyristor, the actual component that acts as the switch. This is not a repair job for the weak at heart. I would suggest you contact the repair facility and have a tech work on this unit.
