My Zenith SENTRY 2
#1
My Zenith Sentry 2 TV is about 3.5 years old. Recently I turned it on, and it now has a pink hue to the picture. I have tried changing the "color & tint" settings, but it doesn't seem to help. Because the white space seems to be taken up by the pink hue, the picture seems to lack brightness. A friend suggested "degaussing" the picture tube, but I don't have a degaussing device and the TV doesn't have that feature.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rick

Sounds like a screen gun is not functioning or the driver circuit for it is not functioning, if that is the case degaussing the tube will not help. All your colors are made from a combination of red/green/blue, if one fails your colors will be off. This could be anywhere from a cold solder joint to component failure. Unless you have experience working on tv's, it might be better to have the experts look at it. I usually consider if repairs approach 50 % of an new one, then that I usually consider that is the best option to take.
Usually if there is a discoloration in sections of the picture than degaussing could correct it. your problem I understand came on suddenly and affects the entire picture.

Smokey does have the background to be taken seriously in his postings, and is more than a guest on DIY, moderators don't know everything either but we try. Either cause it is not a DIY repair for the average person.
