Static Problem from a DVD/VHS Combo connection.

I've connected a DVD/VHS combination player to my television.
After inserting a DVD in the player, the picture is fine, but the sound has a lot of static. I have not connected any cables other than those that go from the Cable box to the combo unit & the TV. There are red, white and yellow cables on the combo unit but only these on the TV.... Audio in & out, and green, blue, and red, Plug in cables and a input 1 plug. ( I know, clear as mud). Can someone guide me here to remove the static when I try and play a DVD ??
I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks

It sounds like right now you have the output of the cable box connected to the input of the DVD/VHS combo and the output of the DVD/VHS combo to the TV using RG6 coax cable. That means the TV and the DVD/VHS combo need to be set to channel 3.

That should work fine. If you wanted to use the audio/video connection from the DVD/VHS combo to the TV.... then you would need a yellow connection for "video in" on the TV. If none of the jacks are colored yellow then you can only use the coax connections you are currently using.

You may not have a connection problem... it could be a problem with the combo unit.

Thank You PGmax! That solved the problem. The VCR/VHS unit was on a different channel than channel 3. It works very fine.
Appreciate the help. Have a great day!
