Panasonic is TOO Dark

We inherited a flat Screen Panasonic TC-L42E3 TV. I used the brightness command to max and it still is not as bright as it should be. Movies and programs in darkened rooms (on screen) are mostly impossible to see the action. Is there anything else I can do myself to enhance the brightness, or is this a repair center item?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Did you try turning up the backlight? I have my brightness and backlight both at 80.

I'm not sure how to do that. Can you give me the steps, or do I have to re open the book?

Thanks!!

Not sure what you mean by "re open the book". If you have a manual, doesn't hurt to read it.
Anyways, there should be a "menu" button on the remote. After hitting that, pick the "picture" setting. There you should be able to adjust the backlight, brightness, contrast, etc. They usually have some preset picture and audio modes, also.

Page 44 will get you started. To start I'd suggest set the 'picture mode' to standard.

Drop down to back light and see what that is at. Mine is around 80.

I kicked up both the Backlight and the Brightness to 90. LOT BETTER. Thanks for the replies!
