First, go into the menu and then the sound setup. Make sure the speakers are turned on. Most modern TV's allow you to turn off the speakers inside the TV because they are often used with external speakers.

What are you sending to the TV..... a single HDMI cable ?
If we assume the speakers are actually active in the TV then we need to determine if it's a bad cable or a bad input. If you were to connect an antenna to the coax input jack or a DVD player or another device into a different input of the TV to see if that works.

I don't think the speakers are working in the TV. When I called Samsung Srervice they showed me how to run the 'sound' check and said the speaker wasn't working. I have an HDMI cable from my Direct TV 'little' box to Input 4 on the TV. I do have a Panasonic surround system box with speakers. What cord should I use and where does it go to TV? I have a Buray player, how does it connect to surround and TV? As you can tell, I'm an 'old' guy that is challenged with this stuff.
I do have the Blueray connected to another Input and it does play a movie but still no sound.
