Home theater subwoofer connections

I have an older Kenwood reciever (VR-615) which doesn't have a rca style subwoofer out port. It is a passive system with a dedicated sub out using speaker wires. I am looking at a polk psw110 sub which has high level inputs but the instructions only suggest hooking it up with the left and right front speaker wires. Can I hook it up using just the sub speaker wires out from my unit, which means only 1 channel?

You could try just connecting your sub-woofer output to one "speaker in" channel on the sub-woofer or jumper it like I've shown it in the diagram. I'd try it both ways and pick the best sounding connection method.
