Car Radio Issues

So I recently pulled my 2001 Pontiac Sunfire's radio out to see if it had a certain input. Then when I went to put the radio back a connector came unplugged from deep inside the radio, So I went to plug it back in and the connector broke(just my luck) luckily I had an extra connector and attached it back and hooked the radio back up and put it in. Now the radio wont shut off when the car is off and I open a door and I can turn it off and on even when its off and the door is open. Also the screen of the radio doesn't light up anymore all the other radio lights work but not the screen. The screen still displays but it is extremely faint with no back light. I have tried many things (Re- soldered the internal connector, went through the wiring) still nothing. Also the security light does not blink if that means anything.

Are you talking about the big connector on the back on the radio?

No their is an internal connector that broke but I soldered a new end on that. I haven't touched the back connector.

I don't follow the "internal" connector thing. Generally there is only an antenna cable and a master plug. One exception is the steering wheel control wire which can be separate. You have to pull it back out to make repairs, so post a picture of this wire and the back of the radio so we can see what you see.

So you are saying that a connector inside the radio mysteriously broke and you tried to change it.

Since the radio was fine before you started and now has a problem.... it sounds like the order of the wires is incorrect or one wire is not making a solid connection.

If you wanted to try and shoot a bright clear picture we could try to help you out.... otherwise we're just guessing.

Cheap & easy to replace that radio with one off eBay, IMO. Just not worth the trouble to find and correct what is wrong.

Yea I did have it wrong, because I tried today after fiddling with the wires and it worked. I don't know if it was just the door I had open but I used the drivers door today and it worked like it usually does. I'm guessing it was just something in the order of doors.
