One DirecTV receiver to power home cable system?

We have two directv receivers and 4 tvs. I was wondering if I could put a directv box in the basement where the main cable splits off to the other tvs? I was thikning I would get some kind of range extender system for the remotes.

Anyone do this? Run into any issues?

Thanks!

DirecTV operates off voltage induced LNB's, and aren't at all like cable. You will need a specific splitter in order to have multiple boxes in your house. Often they will run a special and will give away the boxes. You still have to pay the $6 monthly fee, but it's not bad. Have you just had DirecTV installed in your house? Did you originally have cable?

Actually guess that can get you in a little bit of trouble, guess I use the over that air antenna!

Wanted to be able to watch a tv while on the bike, which doesn't see too much use. Oh well.

What I've done is taken three HD FiOS set top boxes and connected them directly to the TV's in their associated rooms. Then I've run an RG6 cable off the F connector outputs to three other TV's. Then I've used two IR blasters to control two of the boxes from the aux TV's.

This method works well but both TV's connected to the same box need to watch the same channel.
