DIY OTA antenna

Im thinking of building my own antenna. I can't find this answer, could I split the signal for 2 or 3 TV's. Also, what's more ideal, 8, 9.5, or 10 inch whiskers. I'm about 8-10 miles from the transmitters.

Interesting question. There's another thread running on homebrew antennas.

I cut mine to 7 inches. You can split the signal. If the TVs lose reception you can add an amplifier.

The best length of the whiskers depends on the actual channel(s) you will be receiving, not the distance to the transmitter(s).

The actual channel number is usually not the same as the number in the station's logo.

I do not have handy a table or list ot calculations needed to determine the length for the whiskers.

7 inches is the longest 1/4-wave you'll need for UHF.

Well, my DIY version seems to match the performance of my RCA ANT751. The DIY is slightly stronger, BUT, thr RCA is in the attic and is split.
