Sound variation when using on cable feed for TV

When I am using the receiver/surround system to view TV via cable feed the sound variation (volume and quality) from channel to channel is horrible. If I separate
TV and use straight cable feed ad sound bar, sound levels are acceptable.

Any ideas on what to do?

Fact is, TV audio does vary between channels. It also varies between programs and commercials on the same channel. You may not be hearing it as pronounced on the sound bar (perhaps it has a "leveler"?). If the receiver has a compressor or other processor to even the sound, try activating it.

Similar, but better remote?

The remote I selected seemed like a good choice. Larger buttons and a backlit display. The buttons required too much pressure when new. Now, you almost need a hammer before the keypad switches make contact. Obviously, I need a replacement. This GE remote has the "master volume" feature. External speakers are plugged into my converter box. The TV speakers are disabled. The "master volume" allows the user to control the volume of the external speakers through the converter. One feature not available with 24116 is an "all power" on and off button. It would be simplier if I could power the TV and converter on or off with a single button. I've seen plenty of aftermarket remotes with a zillion buttons or graphical displays. That's the last thing I need when I'm half asleep in bed! Something similar to 24116 with an "all power" button would be perfect. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks guys.Read More

Adding multiple HDMI connections in new basement home theater / rec room setup

Hello Folks, Have a question regarding the addition of HDMI in a new basement build. Currently, the framing is finished and before the drywall is installed, I would like to run all the data cables that I anticipate using in the future. I also plan to add conduit parallel to the data lines that will remain empty as a sort of "future-proof" arrangement. I plan to have three different HDMI inputs that will be distributed to two different HDMI output ports. HDMI IN 1 could be sending a signal to HDMI OUT 1, while at the same time HDMI IN 3 could be sending a signal to HDMI OUT 2. What is the best way to handle such a scenario? The max distance on any given HDMI segment should be no more than 40 feet. Also, a single HDMI input would not be used to send a signal to more than one output.
