TV needs A/C compressor active to keep horizontal hold

This seems like a "twilight zone" problem to my husband and me, and we can't figure it out. Our TV has been plugged into the same surge protector as the window air conditioner for about one year. Approximately 3 days ago, the TV started having a constant horizontal roll, which lasted until the air conditioner condenser kicked on. At that point, the TV had a perfect picture. Also, the horizontal hold works perfectly during weather alerts from local TV stations, regardless of condenser status.

It seems to us that the condenser kicking on would make the TV reception worse, not better. Can anyone advise us how to correct this problem? Would you say the TV needs to be replaced? Or the surge protector? Thank you for any help you can provide.
Sincerely, MissKaren

First of all, you mean compressor not condenser. Don't replace the TV yet. Connect it to another outlet somewhere else. See what happens. In the meantime, I have to talk to an electrician friend of mine about something else & I'll ask him about that too.

Try it without the surge protector.

Horizontal roll ? Is this an older TV with a picture tube.

If it's an LCD or LED then more than likely the TV has a power supply problem.

I've seen this many times in the past. The tv has a bad voltage regulator .
