record music on DVR

I have the Dish 625 receiver DVR. Its an older model but works ok. It has a USB
plug in the back. How can I use that to record just the audio from some TV shows so I can put them into my PC and make audio CDs..??I dont need video..

A signal through a TV receiver etc is a audio/video signal. That's what you're gonna get. A DVR is a Digital Video Recorder, therefore, its designed to record the video along with audio.

Now, having said that, once recorded onto the DVR, you can transfer it to your computer (via proper connections & software). From that point, you'll need (in simple terms) a splitter/mixer that will split the audio & video, then copy the audio files. You'll need software for this so the mixer will know what to do with the files being fed to it.

That USB jack shows as unsupported.
You could use the Audio Out RCA jacks and send the audio into your computer thru the 3.5mm mic/aux connector. Or you could send the optical video thru a converter and record that.
