Does that walabot work to see behind ceiling soffit

I've started to try small projects even though I've never been too handy. I've been looking to add a bluetooth ceiling speaker system in my lanai. I have a thin vinyl soffit along the ceiling but am not positive what is behind it. Will the walabot device see enough for me to see behind that? I'm hoping it shows me enough to get enough to anchor the speaker mounts and not hit something electrical. There should not be much up there except wiring for a ceiling fan and either sheetrock or wood backing then the beams. Thanks.

Vinyl sofit is easy to take down. The strips lock together and can be popped apart with a flat blade screwdriver or narrow putty knife though a vinyl siding removal tool is easier. You can unhook one piece where you want to put your speaker and see what's behind.

I ended up wimping out at putting the speakers in the soffit. I was too afraid of ruining the soffit piece. I decided to go with speaker boxes and used small TV mounts to mount them to the wall. I picked up a pair of Polk 8 inch speakers and the nusound ns-20 bluetooth amp. It is supposed to be 100x2 but I'm not sure it is that powerful. I got it jig rigged for now and plan to clean up the wiring. Right now it is tacked up with tape.)

Wish I saw your post earlier. I have a walabot and I could've tried it out for you.
