Samsung Blu-Ray Possible Problem

I have this Samsung Blu-Ray BD-D5700 disk player for about 12 years now and use it I would say quite often to watch my DVDís collection at least once per night. I have never played any Blu-Ray disks since I donít have any.

Recently it looks like it freezes on some DVD frames and then jumps some frames forward and I donít know if it is the player or my DVD.

Do these player go bad?
Is it possible to clean them perhaps? (I have never open it to see the insides)

Thanks

I've never had a disc player last 12 years; they've all failed in one way or another long before that time.
