Canít Play WEBM video on my TV

I downloaded a French movie from YouTube last night (234MB, 97min duration) and it plays nice on my Windows10 laptop. Iím not in a habit doing that because when I see a YouTube available only in WEBM format I pass it because it takes forever to complete the download especially the ďaggregatingĒ part. For those interested the movie is called ďLe Vagabond de la Baie de SommeĒ a mystery/drama movie.

But I wanted to play that movie on my TV, so I transfer the WEBM download to my USB but the TV does not see it

Then I used VLC Media converter to convert it to MP4. The new file is now 568MB which I transfer it to my USB again but my TV does not recognize it. (sorry guys Iím not into streaming, kind of old fashioned lol).

So, is there any way to get the WEBM video I have into my TV?

Just noticed the file I copy into my USB had the WebM extension and it should have been .MP4 after the conversion I did. I clicked in the file name and changed the WebM to .MP4 and now it works, I can see the movie on my TV.

The video is excellent in the .mp4 file but the audio is not synchronized well especially towards the end.

Is there a better way to convert WebM videos to play on TV?

VLC can get the video and audio out-of-sync when converting files.
If the WebM file IS in sync, then to have the movie play in sync on the TV, you could try "casting". Windows-10 supports "casting" (mira-cast / chrome-cast etc..) which makes a smart TV into a 2nd monitor, connected via WiFi instead of by a cable.

Turn on the TV, cue up the movie file on the computer, and you should get a "cast to" option.

Thank you Hal_S.

My 48” LED TV is not WiFi. Perhaps there is a better software out there than VLC Media which will convert my original WebM video to a suitable format for my TV?

The ones I found they say max size 100MB of input video and mine is 234MB.
