You have a DVD player.
If you only want to play audio CD's..... it just gets connected to a receiver or amplifier.
If you want to play video CD's.... there needs to be a connection to the TV as well as to a receiver.

So you would need some type of amplifier or receiver to amplify the DVD audio to run your speakers.

Yes someone will know.

Need to know what components you have?
Need to know what outputs are on the DVD player?
Need to know exactly what you want to do?
Model numbers may also be useful?

Thanks for waiting. I took it all apart and back together.I will try to send some pix for you to visualize.
AIWA CD, discs ,radio etc is about 25 years old with much wear.
The CD player did not work so I bought one and attached it to the Aiwa. This RCA CD player did play for about a year. I don't think this CD player is faulty I think it is the AIWA. The AIWA tape/cassette player chews tapes.
So, only the separate CD player might work but the question is: DOES IT NEED ANOTHER DEVICE TO PLAY THROUGH OR CAN IT JUST BE HOOKED UP TO THE SPEAKERS??
.Aiwa = R+W>CD audio
B+Y video>aux/speakers
FM loop nowhere
FM loop to antenna on top.
I wrote no stats etc because I think with the photos and my explanation you will see what goes on.
Likely I need a whole new set up as the guts-the AIWA is dead.
This is not a big deal. I just put some songs from cds to a flash drive for the car and need to get one for the house so I don't abuse the PC.
When I stared the post I had not taken it apart.
Would you agree I need a device for the house that will accommodate a flash drive? Also what do you think about the orange question?
This is a lot so thanks for your patience. I hope the attachments go through

Am getting a bit confused.

Picture 2 shows a red and white RCA jack going into Surround Speakers.
Picture 4 shows player output with red and white RCA jacks out.
Is this the same cable.
If yes then this will not work as the surround sound speakers is an output not an input.

Separate unit CD players need an amplifier.
This may be a stand alone amp or a receiver.

Music

The red and white cables go from the big IAWA to the CD player on the bottom.
Thanks for letting me know that the CD player does need some type of amplifier.
Could you recommend a device that I could plug my flash drives in that could play music?
The way the rig I have now is much too confusing
and is being thrown out.

That's going to take some searching. That would basically be a USB player.

A unit like this should work.... media player.

I would not get that media player you will need to hook it up to a TV screen to see what you are playing and the file information and other information as there is no physical display device on that player.

I would get this Teac PD-P650 it will play your standard audio cds and you can play music that you have already loaded of a USB flash drive

I will not recommend anything.
There are too many variables.
Such as
How much do you want to spend.
What speakers do you want to drive
What sound quality do you want
Are you going to want to add stuff in the future
etc etc etc etc
