Samsung TV screen dark on one side

65" Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA, not quite two years old with about 20% of the screen darker than the rest. Google search says it could be a bad T-Con Board or FPC Cable. They say to check the on screen display (OSD) to see if the problem exists there as well, but the OSD displays in a smaller box and doesn't extend to the dark area. I emailed a local repair shop with that info and they said it's "usually a screen problem", which wouldn't make sense to repair (TV was $600). A Samsung forum suggests a couple of self-diagnostic tests of the picture and the HDMI cable which I will try tonight. Also suggested is trying other sources, though it's a smart TV connected to internet via WiFi and the "sources" I switch between are just different apps. Maybe I should select an unused source and look at the blue screen? Will try that tonight as well.

It could be just a loose connection to the T Con board or the screen itself.
It could be a defective screen or T Con board.
Most of the guys that work on them will swap in a T Con board first.
