Picture Tube TV Implode/Disposal

Not sure where to post this, but I want to dispose of a 19" old picture tube TV. I can fit it in the big garbage can for when the garbage truck comes.

My concern though is whether this is safe if/when the thing implodes inside the garbage truck when the claw mechanism compacts the garbage? What do you think?

CRTs are considered a Hazardous Material. Do NOT put in the trash; doing so may be illegal.

Contact your local waste authority. They often offer have special electronics disposal locations.

If you are concerned about the garbage truck or the compaction machines at the landfill I would not worry. They probably won't even notice.
