oki reel to reel tape player in need of repair

I have an OKI 111 reel to reel tape player from the 1960's that is need of new belts. It seems that there are 4 in total. Any ideas where I can find replacements?

JackL, PRBline should have the belts you need. They manufacture belts for movie projectors to vcr's, and everything in between.

Update on the OKI tape Player

Well, I was able to get the belts for the player. I installed them, even got the player to work, but I have some problems:

I will start by saying the machine has 4 belts. 1 belt controls a counter. 1 small belt controls the rewind. 1 belt is a fabric belt which is for play as well as rewind and the last belt seems to be for play and rewind as well. Again this is an OKI 111 reel to reel player probably from the 60's or early 70's.

As soon as I turn on the machine, the fast forward mechannism starts running even though it is in the off position. I really believe the belts are all the right size since they match up with the old belts. Two of the belts slide over the (sprocket?) that spins the fan. The fan/sprocket spins constantly when turned on. I would think that there must be some mechanism to relieve the tension on that belt so the fast forward would not engage. At least that is how the rewind works. So I am a bit confused. I also noticed what I would think was a small rubber brake that rubs against the wheel that the tape sits on. It is warn, but it doesn't make sense that this would be the way to stop the fast forward. Perhaps that should be replaced I still have it disassembled. I've tried switching the two black belts but that didn't make any difference. Both are about the same size and the thickness difference is so slight.

Another problem, I replaced the 1 amp fuse 3 times. I don't knowwhy that keeps blowing. Would I need a bigger amp fuse?

I also need to pick up a new on/off switch and a spring for the rewind feature. I am assuming the belt company may stock them??

Looking forward to some advise....

JackL, Here are a few websites you can try. It may take a little time and patience to find those parts though emails and forums(on vintage equipment). Have you tried the yellow pages in your area?

Hopes this helps!

I've found that belts aren't the only parts that suffer when it comes to something this old. I'm sure that the grease within the mechanisms is either dried out or gumbed up causing resistance and preventing levers from moving to their desired positions. I'd suggest to look at all the movable parts (including levers and motors shafts) and to make sure that they aren't binding up. Resistance could explain the fuse blowing not to mention that from the electronics side of things...those old electrolytic capacitors within the power supply are certainly in need of replacement at this age. It's not just a matter of belts when things get this old...there are other sources for trouble also. The older something is...the more prone to problems it will become.
...just like people
good luck!
