I have a Sony 500+50 receiver. Not sure of the model number. Recently I went to switch the speaker selection from A to B (B is the patio speaker) so I could listen to the radio outside. When I switched it I got no sound out of the speaker and the display read PROTECTOR. Does anyone have any clue what this means or what caused it? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Cool Sony

Well being a Sony I will almost say it's a bad solder joint somewhere. Also check that no wires have been bit through or broken. Are the speakers blown? Only on B channel do you get the error? Possible blown outputs but doubtful as both A&B run from the same amps. Check all you’re wiring. Ck speakers by wiring them to A channel and see if the error follows the speakers.
