paying empolyee

how much can i pay an employee without having to give a 1099?
cash for helping

Lets get some terminology straight.

Employees get paychecks with taxes withheld. At the end of the year they get a W-2 detailing their gross pay and all deductions for the year.

Non-employees get 1099's. You have to give them a 1099 if they get $600 or more during the calendar year.

Yes, that helps. That is what I need to know. (600.00). I thought it was 500.00-600.00 but was not sure if that changed in the past 5 years.
