Drawing tools

Hi...

Does anyone know of a drawing tool to help with floor plans? Just something simple for an addition, not an entire house. Anything on-line or software download?

Thanks.

Any of the office stores have graft paper 1/4"X1/4" for lay out they also have sheets of punch outs that will let you draw like a door a table a window all on this one sheet. they also have the sheets like for the bath also. ED

What I know that if you want to build an addition to your house your plans must be checked by building inspector. If a structure of your addition is so simple you can draw it by yourself, if not you need to get drawings from experienced drafter.

Hi,

There are several programs that will let you design an addition. Some of them are expensive, other are inexpensive.

The most important thing, however is that there are not magic programs that will allow you design with the right dimensions, meeting all the codes, etc.
Nothing is going to replace an Architect or Engineer or Designer, specially trained to take advantage of the space, get the best design, know the codes, and offer you the best design solutions and save money at the same time.

Some time ago, we had an interesting discussion about home design software; you can read it at:

http://forum.doityourself.com/showth...hreadid=112120

My suggestion: buy a software, play a lot with your creativity (I love when my customers are creative and work with me!!!), and after this stage, look for someone (Architect or Engineer or Designer) to help you to optimize the design, draw the permits, etc.

Let us know if you need more help,
