Adding On

I have a small ranch 24X42, We want to add on but not sure if it is cost to go up or out. If we go out which way? We mostly want an other bathroom. And redo the kitchen. The floor plan was not the best in the world. We want it to look good and get the most from it.
What more info would one need to say which way and the best way???

If you decide to go up you will most likly loose the use of you home untill it's done or at least water tight.
No one here can see your homes floor plan and even if we did without being on site to look at it anyone here will just be guessing. It would be best to start asking around and finding a good GC in your area and have them come over for a look.

Typically, it's cheaper to go up than out but every house and every plan is different

I'd have a few contractors come out to take a look and see what they have to say
