Would having a bedroom off the kitchen be awkward? (not a master bedroom)

Drawing up some ideas for remodling the house... latest plan features one of the bedrooms off the kitchen (which it currently shares a wall with anyway.. it would just remove the little wall that ends the kitchen and leave it be an open hallway.

See here: in the circled area (the arrow comming from the kitchen is currently closed off) but since we are putting in stairs to a second floor, and thinking it might look nicer opened up. I was just wondering if it would be awkward or lower the homes resale value if we did so.

See here http://assets4.pinimg.com/upload/317...0_ocltpwe8.jpg

Rough idea but, drawn to scale! 3/16 but since there are no dims... if you want to know sizes of anything just go with 3 blocks- 4 feet.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums! I would close off the area beside the refrigerator and make it a storage unit, thereby utilizing the hallway for both bedrooms. That would leave the kitchen connection out of the equation.
