Help with bathroom closet remodel extensive

The owner before me built this house on a very tight budget doing most of the work himself with a buddy using as much used materials as possible including the wiring. Both were masons who knew little about carpentry/electrical etc. I know little as well and have learned lots.

This closet was only one shelf half way up and only 15.5 inches deep. I've torn out to this point in the pics and am at a loss as how to proceed.

Please see pics and know that I know only what I have learned the hard way.

19 3/8 inside front 2x4's, 8' high and 34 1/4" deep from front to back wall.

my thinking is to remove the 2x4 in the middle of the wall on the left. I believe there is a support 2x4 on the other side of the drywall but not in the middle. It appears to be 16" from the front of the front 2x4. Hoping that makes sense.

And, reposition the middle 2x4 on the right to be square with the 2x4 on the floor on the right and no idea on what to do with the ceiling 2x4's. Especially the double 2x4's on the right at the ceiling and they are actually tilted slightly. Don't know if you can see that in the pics.

Help please.
