I need to run CAT6 Ethernet cable from my basement into my audio cabinet where my router is. The basement is under the main part of the house, the cabinet is in the living room which is on a recessed slab adjacent to the basement.
There's 6" between the floor surfaces, I assume ~1" of flooring in the main house and the bottom of the cabinet is 3/4" plywood. That should give me ~4" from the floor of the cabinet to drill through to pass my CAT6 cable. I'm not sure what I'm going to have to likely drill through, however.
The back of the cabinet is probably 3/4" plywood, I can see a 2 x something from the basement and I assume there's drywall behind the cabinet. Is that it, or is there likely more that I'll have to drill through?
I've attached a sketch of a section through the house in that area to maybe better show what I'm trying to do.
THe 2x is the rim joist. If the part that has only a slab on grade is an addition they may be some type of sheathing between the house and the addition. That is likely not a big deal and shouldn't be difficult to drill through.
[color=#555555]I am remodeling my 2300sqft two-story walkout basement house and most of the time do my own renderings etc. I have the files on SketchUp. I need a contemporary modern layout. Exterior pop-outs because currently, it’s just a plain box. I’m looking to change the layout. The only thing that can not move in the picture is the basement bathroom. I just remodeled it. All interior walls can be moved but the basement bathroom.
Thank you

Not sure if this is the correct location for this thread. So here goes. I reside in Florida and have a question I can't seem to be able to get an answer. We have a form called a Wind Migation Form that is used by the Insurance companies to allow a homeowner to get insurance discounts based on hardening their homes for wind damage. On of the ways was to reinforce a home that had gable ends by using a "C" looking reinforcement. So, because of this I spent 3 months in my hot attic following the guidelines to get my insurance discount which was substantial at the time. I even had a certified inspector to come over a take pictures along with a report staing I followed the guidelines. I then submitted this to my insurance company and was denied the discount. I then asked them why and they told me this portion of the Wind Mitigation form was removed by the State of Florida with no explanation why it was removed. So, my question is, why was this removed" Hopefully someone can chime in the let me know after spending over $1,000 for materials and my time up in the hot attic.Read More
