A50 Relay versus direct to Exhaust fan??

I have an Aprilaire 400 I am trying to install on a Heil NUGK100-867.769437. It is an older unit without HUM labeled connectors. I have been told that I could wire the transformer directly to the exhaust fan thus eliminating the need for a sail switch or A50 relay. Any issues/concern with this? If so, what would the correct wiring procedure be?

BTW, I do have a DPDT fan relay where I could connect as well. I can scan the book and wiring diagram if it would help.

Thanks.

Wink

You should be able to just put that A 50 over the blower wire and the humidifier will come on with the blower. Id go this way for sure.

No A50--yet

At this time I don't have the A50 Relay part. Before buying it, wanted to see if the exhaust fan workaround is feasible. IF it will cause the system to be compromised, I would go for the A50. At this time, it is a question of ordering the part and spending $30.

Real question is can the interface via the exhaust fan work.

Thanks.
