How large a humidification system do I need?

I have a 4500 sqft house, temperatures range from below zero to north of 90. I have a gas fired hydro heating system, with the first floor air handler in the basement, and two additional in the attic for first and second floor. I was told that one unit on the basement handler would help humidity in the entire house, but that seems inadequate. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The Hydro Air system shouldn't dry out the house too much, so you won't need much. I agree. the one in the basment should be fine for the whole house since heat rise.

Thanks! What do these humidification systems typically run for pricewise?

Prices will vary from state to state.. So be hard for me to tell you what it would be.

If you do yourself, A unit may start off at $100.

Wink

The cost is all in how good a one do you want and how hard is it to put in. It is a DIY set up for sure.

I certainly want a good one. How complicated is the installation?

You can get a good honeywell one from Home Depot, It's pretty much all the same as the April Air model.

Just need tin snip to cut couple holes in the duct work, hooking up a transfromer to 110, a relay/sail switch, running wire from that to the humidsat, wire from humidstat to humidifier itself, hooking up the water supply line and valve, and minor sheet metal work.
