Aquatherm and Humidifier
We have an aquatherm forced-air heating system with a/c. We are considering having a whole house humidifier installed, and was told the humidifier would have to be put in the crawlspace due to the small area in which the aquatherm unit now sits. Of course there is an expense for modifying the duct work to do this. Should I be concerned about putting it in the crawlspace? We live in Virginia.
I'm also not sure that me and my son's itchy dry skin in winter is a direct result of dry air, but it seems that a humidifier might help (two other family members do not have have dry skin). We don't seem to have any other standard symptoms of dry air - no static problems.
Is there a way to measure current humidity?

Not knowing your weather well, I would almost say No. Humidfier should not be put in an area that can/will freeze. There is water, and if you have freezing temps, you will have problems.
you can get a good humidty gauge from place like Radio Shack.
