Fan powered humidifier and air leak - help

We have just installed a new Carrier system (A/C, furnace, and humidifier). The fan powered humidifier is installed on the A-coil housing. When the A/C is running (or setting the fan to ON position), air is leaking from the humidifier. Is there a way to seal humidifier in summer or at least reduce the air leak?

The humidifier is a Carrier LFP. And I was told that it is the same as an Aprilaire 700, just different color.

Where is the air leaking from?? I'd call the installing dealer back to seal the leaks.

Is a humidifier worth it?

Hello, With the extreme heat we're having here in Buffalo, I'm seriously considering getting central air installed this year instead of next year. I've always planned to install a humidifier on the furnace when I have CA installed. But my in-laws have one and they don't seem too happy with it and say they don't know if it's worth it. I've heard basically the same thing from someone at my wife's work. So is it worth it to install a humidifier? It gets very dry in the winter and I was hoping to eleviate that problem some. Is Aprilaire the best brand? I don't even know of any other brands. I appreciate the advice. MarkRead More

I have a Goldstar dehumidifier which is about 5 or 6 years old that is suddenly beginning to cycle the compressor on and off (fan remains on constantly) about every 10-15 minutes. In the past years the compressor has run non stop all summer. There is no ice build up or excess heat as far as I can tell. Other than the disconcerting sound of the compressor kicking in every 10-115 minutes, it seems to be working ok - it produces as much water as it always has, which I guess is all that counts. I cleaned out the filter and the first layer of fins on the coil but it doesn't seem to help at all. The fins on the interior layer of the coil is also covered in dirt but I don't know how to access it to clean it. Does the cycling use up more electricity or cause more wear and tear; or is this something I should just ignore?Read More
