Hot vs Cold feed to furnace humidifier

My HVAC guys are in disagreement as to whether hot or cold water should be the source for a bypass furnace humidifier. Gut feeling is that it makes little difference re: humidification, but might affect lime buildup on the pads.
Any thoughts?

I'd always tapped into cold water.. No need to waste the hot water down the drain... Guess the only time would do hot when you do heatpump, or need extra boost of humdity.

Lennox whole house humidifiers

I recently received an estimate on installing 2 Lennox humidifiers in my home. I have a 2 story 3,000 Sq. Ft. atrium home with a 2 York furnaces one for each level (Zoned). The contractor suggested 1 Lennox WB2-12 and 1 Lennox WB2-17 for an installed price of $723.00. Another company suggested 2 Aprilaire 600's installed for $710.00. And another company suggested a Honeywell HE225A at $485.00 and stated that would be for the second floor sleeping area of the home and that would be all I need. So I am confused. What is your opinion of the Lennox models versus the Aprilaire and Honeywell models? Are the estimated costs about right for a Heating/AC contractor? And should I go with one or 2 units? Hi, I need some input on humidifiers! I have a honeywell he260 that I would like to replace with a new humidifier. The one I have now you have to set the control manulie. I have been looking at the ones that have an outside probe or more advanced control. I have heard alot of the aprilaire 600 & the honeywell he225b and was woundering if anyone could give me advise on which one they prefer. The one thing I see is the aprilaire has a 1 year warrenty as the honeywell has a 5 year. I have never heard aprilaire untill recently. They say it's the #1 on the market so I really don't know what the diffrence is in them. If anyone could just give me some advice as to the pros & cons of ether one I would be greatfull?
