Dehumidify a basement condo
I just moved to a condo (~1000 square feet) that is below ground in the front of the building but is at ground level in back. Over the summer, after the air conditioner cycled off, quite a lot of water would drain out. Other residents have told me that humidity can be an issue in these lower condos. I want to use a dehumidifier to keep the humidity down but am not sure if I should simply buy a small 50 pint portable dehumidifier (one that is rated for ~2000 square feet and has a drain hose) or invest the money in one that is connected to my furnace. Does anyone have any suggestions as well as product recommendations? Thanks!

shouldn't be that bad to run.. Lot of these newer ones are e-star as you said.
Only downfall on a whole house system, is if you open your windows, there is NO point of running the whole system.. now that basement isn't getting dried out. If you do run that system with the windows open, then you are using more power for the larger system.
Also, if say the main living area has dried out to about 43%, but the basment is still damp, it not going to dry that area out since the unit has done what it should for the main living area.
